The weather is gorgeous, and you’re looking for the perfect spot to enjoy the London skyline. You’ve come to the right place! Let’s make the most of a sunny day in London with some of our favourite rooftops around the city.
Whether you’re after a relaxing place to sit and take in the view, or a lively rooftop where you can enjoy a drink – we’ve got you covered.
1. Garden at 120
The Garden at 120 is London’s largest free public rooftop garden. Open until 9 pm on weekdays, it’s the ideal place to unwind after work. Work has been busier than usual for us lately, and this spot has been a true delight at the end of the day – we couldn’t have chosen better!
Enjoy 360° views of the city in a calm, relaxing setting. The garden offers plenty of seating and features a variety of trees that make the space even more enjoyable.

2. Horizon 22
Horizon 22 is the highest free viewing platform in London. Located on the 58th floor, it offers stunning 360° views of the city – all from indoors.
We’ve been here several times and never get tired of the view! On a clear day, it’s even more magical. We’d recommend staying for around 30 minutes to an hour – it’s a great spot to soak in the scenery, but not the kind of place you’d spend an entire afternoon, like at Garden at 120. There’s a small café serving barista-made coffee, pastries, and light snacks, although seating is limited.

3. Jin Bo Law
Located on the 14th floor of Hotel Saint at Aldgate, Jin Bo Law is very much a social-energy hotspot rather than a quiet, tucked-away rooftop. Strongly recommend booking ahead – otherwise, it can be difficult to get a table.
We were looking for a lively rooftop with music and stumbled upon Jin Bo Law our way home. We went on a weekday, and the constant flow of people, the DJ and the buzz of the conversation were exactly the atmosphere we wanted. The rooftop views give it that “special night out” feel without having to go clubbing.

4. Smiths of Smithfield
This was a recent discover for us 🙂 We were walking towards Farrington, passing though the historic heart of Smithfield Market, when we came across this rooftop. 4 different floors – 4 different vibes.
We kept climbing the stairs and eventually found a stunning restaurant-bar. Even without a reservation, the staff were amazing and managed to get us a table overlooking the market and St. Paul’s Cathedral. If you’re looking for a place to unwind after a busy day at work – but without it being too noisy – Smiths of Smithfield is ideal.

5. Savage
Savage Garden is a stylish rooftop bar located on the 12th floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Tower Hill. Simply walk into the hotel and ask for directions to the rooftop – the staff are very friendly and will guide you to the lift that takes you straight up
There are two distinct terraces: one indoor and one outdoor. Both are great spots to enjoy food and drinks, but we opted for the outdoor terrace to make the most of the stunning Tower Bridge view.

6. Madera at Treehouse
Fancy unlimited tacos on a Tuesday? If so, this is the place! We first heard about it from a friend who had been there for a corporate event, and it turned out to be such a great choice.
Madera at Treehouse, located on the 15th floor of the Treehouse Hotel, is a Mexican restaurant designed with lush greenery, wooden floors, rattan lanterns, and immersive treehouse-style lighting. They host special events such as Taco Tuesdays: unlimited tacos (£35 pp) plus live fire-breathing performances from 7–9 pm.
We had a wonderful date there, enjoying the stunning London views – and we were lucky enough to catch the sunset too.

7. Netil 360
Netil 360 is a rooftop that holds a special place in our hearts 😊
One of our very first dates in London took place here – we booked tickets for a live music event and absolutely loved it.
Located in Hackney, Netil 360 is a laid-back rooftop bar and pizzeria offering panoramic views of East London’s skyline. This year, they’re celebrating a decade – and what better excuse to join in the fun? With its relaxed, welcoming vibe, it’s the perfect spot for a casual date any day of the week.
It’s also close to The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities – why not explore this wonderfully weird museum first, then head to Netil 360 to unwind with a drink and a view?

8. Piazza
Situated on the fifth floor of the Royal Opera House, the Piazza Terrace offers an open-air setting with tasteful grey seating and charming hanging foliage. This spot was a pleasant surprise for us!
- From the main entrance, head to the left where you’ll find the grand staircase and escalators.
- Take the escalators up to the fourth floor enjoying glimpses of the Opera House’s elegant interiors along the way.
- Then, either take the final escalator or use the lift (located to the right near the entrance) to reach the fifth floor.
As you step onto the Piazza rooftop, the atmosphere shifts. The rooftop is partially covered, allowing you to enjoy the fresh air, natural light, and a lovely views at the same time.
It’s a perfect little pit stop in Covent Garden – ideal for sitting down and sipping something nice. If tables are full, it’s still worth walking up to have a look around. And if not, there’s always another rooftop nearby to try!

9. The Lane
We were enjoying the view from a pub in Covent Garden when we glanced over at the Drury Lane Theatre and realised – they have a rooftop! At first, we weren’t sure how to get up there, especially since the theatre’s main entrance was closed. But there’s a small door on the left side of the theatre – that’s the entrance you’re looking for.
First things first: the Theatre Royal Drury Lane is absolutely stunning. Did you know it’s one of the most historic and iconic theatres in the UK, with a legacy spanning over 350 years?
The rooftop at Theatre Royal Drury Lane is a refined yet relaxed outdoor space, blending historic charm with modern luxury. It’s perfect for a pre-theatre drink – or just a spontaneous afternoon date, like ours.
