Looking to make the most of London’s evenings? After a long day at work, are you in need of something refreshing and different to do with your partner? If you’re struggling to come up with ideas amidst the busyness of life, we’ve got you covered.

Here are eight perfect outdoor date ideas that will help you enjoy the best of the city, no matter how tight your schedule may be.

1. Shakespeare Globe

The original Globe Theatre was built in 1599 by William Shakespeare’s acting company, the Lord Chamberlain’s Men. It became the primary venue for many of Shakespeare’s plays, including some of his most famous works. The Globe was eventually demolished in 1644.

Nowadays: The modern Globe Theatre, known as Shakespeare’s Globe, was reconstructed in 1997, about 750 feet from the site of the original theatre.

This replica was built using traditional materials and techniques to recreate the look and feel of the Elizabethan playhouse. Today, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre continues to celebrate Shakespeare’s legacy, offering performances, educational programs, and tours, and remains a vibrant cultural landmark in London, providing a window into the world of Elizabethan theatre. The Globe remains with a circular shape as an open-air amphitheatre.

Our recommendation: Buy a standing ticket and get as close as the stage as possible! Actors engage directly with the audience from the stage and frequently interact with those standing in the pit, creating a highly interactive environment. The last play we watched was “Much Ado About Nothing,” and it was absolutely brilliant!

Price: Standing tickets cost between 5-10£ per person. If you prefer, seated tickets are also available.

3. Walking along the canal in East London

One of our favourite outdoor dates is walking along the canal in East London. We usually start from Mile End, with “The Cherry” as a handy reference point – there are stairs to the walk right in front of “The Cherry.”

Walk with the canal on your left and the Mile End park on your right. As you stroll, you’ll pass by charming houseboats, hidden gardens, historic bridges, all while enjoying the tranquility of the waterside atmosphere.

The walk takes you through Victoria Park and onto the lively areas of Hackney and Islington. If you’d like to walk ever further, you can continue into the vibrant Angel district.
